If you have an extremely important event like a wedding or a reunion, we would recommend having fillers done 3-4 weeks before the big day, as sometimes depending on your level of recovery and tendency to bruise; bruises can last for up to 14 days.
Within 2 weeks prior to your procedure:
1. Avoid taking Aspirin, Heparin, Coumadin, Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Naprosyn, Vitamin E, Niacin, ginkgo, Fish oil, Flax Seed Oil, red wine or green tea
2. Consult us regarding the medication you are currently taking, inquire whether you can discontinue taking them for a period of time.
3. Do take Arnica or Bromelain by mouth. Bromelain is available in a tablet form or found in fresh pineapple.
4. Eat vegetables rich in Vitamin K such as leafy greens and members of cabbage family - broccoli, cabbage, spinach or take Vitamin K supplements.
Apply pressure, ice periodically. If bruising persists, apply Arnica in an ointment form and/or take it sublingually. Bromelain in a tablet form or in fresh pineapple will expedite the healing process.
You can also try some natural home remedies –
1. Vinegar mixed with warm water applied gently with a compress
2. Apply Witch hazel compresses
3. Crush parsley, put on the bruise, you may hold it in place with an adhesive bandage. It clears black and blue and has a healing effect.
4. It’s ok to apply make-up.
